We had a terrific visit last week with a family of coffee farmers from Nicaragua. They were visiting only for a few days, and were very excited to see a place that was importing and roasting their coffee. Luis and his family work with the Prodecoop cooperative in the Segovia region of northern Nicaragua.

Prodecoop is a fair trade certified co-op with over 200 members. They have made big strides in the last few years in coffee processing, coffee quality, and in supporting the individual farming communities who export coffee through the co-op. Last year, Prodecoop farmers took three of the top ten places in the Nicaraguan Cup of Excellence cupping competition!

We were delighted to hear about their farm, and to learn more details about how they grow and process their coffee. They were very excited to see how their coffee was roasted and brewed, as they were unfamiliar with our methods of roasting and taste evaluation. We cupped our Fair Trade Organic Nicaraguan coffee from the prodocoop together- it was a great experience!
